I first took an interest in my family history in about 1979, and continue to research my own ancestors. I'm now in the process of writing up the stories for posterity. The first fruit of my labours was the eBook "Hedley", my grandfather's story, which I published as an e-book on Amazon a couple of years ago. If you are interested you can still buy a copy here.
I can offer help and advice to fellow researchers at reasonable rates. Perhaps you have reached a "brick wall" in your own research, or would like to bounce your own ideas off someone with different experience. Apart from more recent research in the increasingly available online records, I may be able to help identify other records that might help flesh out your family stories. I am specially interested in old family photographs and, whilst I can't promise to tell you who is the subject of an old photo, I may be able to focus your research into a narrower timeframe or family area. I've been running a free helpdesk on this subject at the annual West Surrey Family History Society Open Day at Woking for several years now and can also give presentations to clubs and societies on the subject.
My standard rate for research and advice is £20 per hour, with a short consultation (up to 30 minutes) free of charge (subject to availability).
Don't hesitate to contact me if you want some help.
